11 Collaboration and Sharing
Industrial data only delivers its full value when insights can flow freely across an organization. An observation made by one engineer on the floor is wasted if it cannot reach the operations team, management, or colleagues at another site. TDengine IDMP builds collaboration into the platform so that teams can share visualizations, preserve institutional knowledge, export data for external tools, and migrate data models between deployments.
This chapter covers all collaboration and sharing capabilities in IDMP: sharing dashboards and panels, adding annotations to elements and events, exporting data as CSV, and importing and exporting data models between IDMP instances.
๐๏ธ Sharing Dashboards and Panels
IDMP makes it easy to share visualizations with colleagues without requiring them to recreate the same configuration. Both dashboards and individual panels can be shared directly from the visualization interface.
๐๏ธ Annotations
Annotations let you attach free-text notes to elements, events, and (in a future release) panels and dashboards. They serve as a shared log โ visible to anyone with access โ for recording observations, corrective actions, investigation findings, or any context that is useful to other team members.
๐๏ธ Exporting Data
Throughout IDMP, any table or list view can be exported to a CSV file. This makes it straightforward to take data out of IDMP for use in spreadsheets, reports, or other tools โ without writing any queries or using the Excel Add-In.
๐๏ธ Data Model Import and Export
IDMP's Import/Export feature in the Management Console lets you transfer your data model โ elements, element templates, event templates, UOM categories, and libraries โ between IDMP instances. This is useful for replicating a configuration from a development environment to production, or for sharing a standard asset model across multiple deployments.
