12 Data Ingestion

TDengine IDMP ingests data from TDengine TSDB and a wide range of external sources. This chapter covers how to configure connections, set up data ingestion tasks, and build an asset data model directly from TDengine TSDB.

📄️ Connections

A connection tells IDMP how to reach an external system. Connections are configured in Admin Console → Connections and are referenced by data ingestion tasks and asset model imports.

📄️ Data In

Data In manages the ingestion of time-series data from external sources into TDengine TSDB. It is accessed from Admin Console → Data In.

📄️ Building Data Models from TDengine TSDB

For users who already have data in TDengine TSDB, IDMP can automatically build the asset data model — elements, element templates, and attributes — directly from the TSDB schema. This eliminates the need to create elements and attributes manually.
