6.2 Browsing Events
Events can be browsed from two places: the global Events view in the main navigation, which shows all events across the entire system, and the Events tab on each individual element, which shows only the events for that element and optionally its descendants. Both views share the same layout, controls, and filtering options.
6.2.1 The Global Events View
The global events view provides a system-level event management interface with search, filtering, and export capabilities for centralized monitoring and management of events across all elements. Click Events in the top navigation bar to open the system-wide events list. This view shows all events across all elements that the current user has permission to access.
6.2.1.1 Toolbar
The toolbar provides search, filtering, and data export functions for the event list.
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Search | Search events by name or other text |
| Column selector | Show or hide optional columns. The Path column (element hierarchy path) is hidden by default |
| Refresh | Reload the events list |
| Export CSV | Export the current filtered event list as a CSV file |
| Save as Panel | Save the current event list as a panel so it can be added to a dashboard |
6.2.1.2 Filters
The following filter controls support narrowing the event list by acknowledgment status, category, and template.
- Show Unacknowledged only: Toggle to show only events that have not been acknowledged
- Categories: Filter by event category tag
- Template: Filter by event template
6.2.1.3 Left Sidebar
The left sidebar provides quick access to event groups and saved event filters.
- Event Groups: User-created named groups; any event can be added to one or more groups for quick access.
- Event Filters: Saved filter configurations (see Saved Event Filters below)
6.2.1.4 Event List Columns
The event list displays key information for each event in a table format. The columns are described below.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| S | Severity level indicator icon |
| A | Acknowledgment status icon |
| Name | Event name — click to open the event detail page |
| Duration | Elapsed time from start to end |
| Start Time | Event start timestamp |
| End Time | Event end timestamp (blank if the event is still active) |
| Categories | Category tags |
| Template | Event template name |
| Severity Level | Severity label |
| Reason Code | Reason code if set |
| Description | Description text |
6.2.1.5 Row Actions
Each event row provides a context menu with actions for viewing details, sending notifications, acknowledging events, trend analysis, and deletion. Hover over any event row to reveal the ⋮ (more) menu on the right. Click it to expand the following options:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| View | Open the event detail page |
| Send Notification | Manually trigger a notification for this event to its configured contact points |
| Ack | Acknowledge the event |
| Trend Chart Analysis | Open a trend chart for the event's time range on its associated element |
| Delete | Delete the event record |
6.2.2 Element-Level Events
The element-level events view focuses on events for a single element and its descendants, suitable for monitoring events on specific equipment or production lines. Each element has its own Events tab showing only the events associated with that element. Navigate to any element in the asset tree and click the Events tab.
A scope toggle controls which events are shown:
- This element only: Shows events generated by analyses configured on this element
- Include child elements: Expands the list to include events from all descendant elements in the hierarchy
The include-child-elements option makes it convenient to review all operational events for an entire production line or site — simply navigate to the appropriate level in the asset tree.
The element-level events tab has the same filters, columns, and row actions as the global events view. Its toolbar includes all the same controls plus three additional ones specific to this context:
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Include Child Elements | Toggle, located to the right of Show Unacknowledged only. When enabled, the event list expands to include events from all descendant child elements of the current element, making it convenient to comprehensively review events across an entire production line or site |
| Generate test event data | Create a test event on this element for development and validation purposes |
| Notification Rule | Open the notification rule configuration for this element — see Alerts and Notifications |
6.2.3 Saved Event Filters
Saved event filters allow frequently used search criteria to be persisted for quick re-execution of the same event queries. Event Filters are created by performing an event search and saving the search result under a name. After running a search — using any combination of the available filter controls — save the current search result as a named filter. The saved filter then appears in the Event Filters section of the left sidebar. Clicking it re-runs the same search and restores that result instantly.
